http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/press/cape_may/article_9784474 6-bfef-589c-a3b7-564196eeb515.html This is my jurisdiction but I did not run this exam. I was not even there in 2007. This is one of the biggest cases in our agency--its a 25 year old cold case homicide.
I met the examiner (James Merrill) and watched this test several times. Let me tell you guys what a great job Merril did and he was such a great interviewer. This guy did the crime, no doubt about it.
I did not see the charts. I was surpised that our AP brought the polygraph results into the Grand Jury. I was also surprised that our detective who is not an examiner was allowed to comment on the results on Grand Jury.
Musick is a friend of mine and he's the type of guy that would take a bullet for any cop; and that is not a cliche--it's the truth. He read this case cold and found his way to the suspect. So, in no way am I blaming Musick. Musick said him saying "highly deceptive" was a big part of the loss.
Also in no way am I blaming the examiner. This examiner made a Doctor explain how me comitted a murder. Again all-star job.
